Year 4 and 5 were treated to a hilariously creative afternoon yesterday, when author and illustrator, Louie Stowell, visited us to talk about her new book, Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Taking the Blame.

In the books, Loki, the God of Mischief, has been banished to Earth to live as an eleven-ear-old boy where he must carry out good deeds, under the watchful eye of his brother Thor, in order to return to his home in Asgard. The children learnt all about why Louie loved writing about the Norse gods and everyone had a go at drawing the young Loki and Thor before collaborating on a very inventive made-up creature: a one-eyed, winged, robot-handed god of time and space! It’s safe to say that everyone had fun being so imaginative and seeing how the characters in the books came to life. Though we apologise if any of your children came home with a mischievous glint in their eye…

Some children were lucky enough to meet Louie after the event in our longest book signing queue to date. Thank you to all parents who supported this event and one of our local bookshops, Max Minervas. The school has ordered copies of the book for every Year 4 and 5 classroom and they will also be in the library soon.
