The final exciting event during our Bishop Road Reading Festival was many inspiring illustrators and authors coming to visit us. Year 1 and 2 were visited by Laurie Stansfield; illustrator of ‘Brenda’s Revenge’, as well as Sean Taylor, the author of – school favourite – ‘Hoot Owl’. Children in Year 3 and 4 were visited by children’s author and illustrator James Mayhew. James has a passion for traditional tales. The children enjoyed listening to his stories and creating their own artwork inspired by the characters and settings in the tales. Finally, Year 5 and 6 had a visit from Cathy Faulkner – author of the exciting verse novel ‘Digging for Victory’. Children have been inspired by all of our author and illustrator visits and have very much enjoyed our annual Reading Festival – it certainly is one of the highlights of our academic year!
