Since half term, 1A have focused on number work in mathematics, practicing our counting as well as looking at addition and subtraction. Once we had become addition experts, we challenged ourselves to solve some real world mathematical problems. We noticed that when we rolled two dice and added up the numbers on them, some numbers came up more often than others and we wondered why.

We experimented to see which numbers came up more frequently then worked out that 6,7 and 8 came up much more frequently than 2 or 12 because there were more combinations of dice rolls that could make that total. After completing this successful investigation, we are looking forward to challenging ourselves with many more in the coming weeks.
