English Schools’ Swimming Association South West Heats

Congratulations to the Year 6 girls swimming relay team who swam brilliantly in the South-West Divisional Heats to qualify for the English Schools’ Swimming Association National Finals. In June, they will travel to Sheffield to compete against the top schools across the whole of England in both the freestyle and medley relays. Good luck to Amber, Lara, Lily and Stella. 

Bristol Penguin Primary Schools’ League Finals 

Our wider squad have performed well so far this year and our A team finished a fantastic second in the Bristol Penguin Primary Schools’ Swim League – only missing out on the title by one point! Final points totals as follows:-

1^st – Westbury-On-Trym  – 80

2^nd – BISHOP ROAD – 79

3^rd – Badminton – 71

4^th – St Bonaventure’s – 60

5^th – Clifton College – 55

6^th – QEH – 33

Standout performances as follows: – 

• 1^st place and gold medal for Barnaby in the 8/9 years 25m Freestyle. 
• 1^st place and gold medal for Liz in the 8/9 years 25m Breaststroke. 
• 2^nd place and silver medal for Fran in the 8/9 years 25m Backstroke.
• 1^st place for Barnaby, Liz, Fran and Millie in the 8/9 years 4x25m Freestyle Relay.

Bishop Road were only one of two schools to have two teams in the competition. Our B Team had lots of fun and showed excellent improvements round on round to finish third in the B Final – just being edged out by Bristol Grammar A and Westbury-on-Trym B. Standout performances as follows: – 

• 1^st place for Jemima, Alicia, Olivia and Mei in the 8-11 years 4x25m Freestyle Relay.
• 1^st place for Grace in the 10/11 years 25m Breaststroke.
• 1^st place for Imogen in the 8/9 years 25m Freestyle 

Well done to all our participated in the finals and to everyone who have swam for the school teams this year so far. Lots of personal bests, plenty of smiles and great team spirit shown throughout.
