Our annual Bishop Road Reading Festival took place last week with book-themed activities every single day! On Monday, the whole school took part in a Read Around where each class was read to by a different staff member – including the PE Staff and some of the office team! On Tuesday, AF Harrold came to visit the whole school and performed poetry for us during year group assemblies. He was also interviewed by our Interview Crew and signed all of our books! On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, Year 1 and 2 returned to school in their pjs ready for Bedtime Books. Children enjoyed stories and hot chocolate alongside their cuddly toys! During the week, Year 3 and 4 loved ‘Cosy Reading’ – snuggling down to read a book with a friend or reading outside in the playground they learnt that reading for pleasure can take place anywhere. Reading Buddies also launched this week where older and younger year groups pair up to share stories together. Finally, the Reading Festival came to an end on Friday with our wonderful dress-up day (see the previous blog post for this!) and our Book Fair to celebrate all of the wonderful authors who have visited and books we have shared – what a special, book-tastic week!
