Last Friday, children from Reception to Year 6, took part in the ‘Bishop Road Daily Mile’ event along with 1780 other schools from around the country. That means more than half a million children across England laced up their trainers and ran a mile together for better mental health awareness. Children at Bishop Road have been learning the importance of daily exercise to improving their physical health but also for boosting their self-esteem and mood. The Bishop Road Daily Mile event aimed to get every child active and running a mile with their class and teacher in a fun and social environment.  Children in all year groups and classes were encouraged to mix-up their running styles with other movements such as frog leaps, bunny hops, skips and jumps. It was wonderful to see every class taking part in the rain or shine. As a school we ran over 850 miles which is the distance to Southern Spain! What an achievement! Thank you to all the children for their energy and enthusiasm. There were some tired legs by the end of the day, but it was wonderful to see children supporting each other and challenging themselves.
