Over the last two weeks we have been continuing the Reading Festival celebrations during the class visits for the library.

Miss Robson organised activities for each year group to explore more reading choices, learn their way around the library more and have a go at being a bit creative too!

Children have impressed Miss Robson so much with how responsible they have been at returning their books that for the first time ever.

Year 2 are now allowed to borrow two books at a time from the library. To help them explore all the choices, they were challenged with a ‘Genre Match-Up’ to learn what all the different stickers on the library books meant.

Year 3 children played a game of ‘We’re Going on a Book Hunt’ and surveyed the library looking for lots of different types of books too.

Year 4 were in for a treat as Miss Robson has designed special bookmarks to explain the Dewey Decimal System we use to organise the non-fiction books. They then became ‘Dewey Decimal Detectives’ and used their bookmarks to investigate non-fiction.

Year 5 had a go at becoming librarians themselves whilst playing ‘Book Recommendation Bingo’, finding new books to discover by asking their peers.

Year 6 were invited to write authors and illustrators postcards with questions and reviews on in the hope that we might get some replies! Budding mathematicians also had a go at some tricky maths questions Miss Robson had set based on figures from the library.

Children visiting during lunch clubs have been very creative designing book covers which will soon be on display in the library.

What an exciting and busy time we’ve had! Time for a quiet sit down with a good book now….
