On Monday, Paddington and Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville visited children in Year 3 and 4 to introduce his hilarious debut children’s book: Rory Sparks and the Elephant in the Room. The children (and adults!) of Bishop Road were so excited to welcome Hugh to our school, especially because he knows Paddington in real life! Hugh read from his new novel and we all loved hearing about when Donna, the elephant, arrives in the playground. Hugh then discussed characters that were inspired by his family and friends before exploring how the book Paddington inspired his love of reading from an early age; Hugh even let us into a few filming secrets from the film! The children were able to ask lots of questions about being an actor and writer and Hugh was kind enough to stay to sign books and meet both children and staff – it was certainly an unforgettable experience for all!
