The girls medley and freestyle relay teams travelled to Sheffield on Saturday to compete in the prestigious ESSA Primary Team Championships – the national finals for primary schools. They had done amazingly to qualify as the fastest school in the south-west and were therefore pitched against the very fastest schools from all across the country at Ponds Forge, the home of British swimming. Many of their opponents were independent schools with their own swimming pools and training programmes, but the girls were in no way overawed and swam brilliantly to make the B final for each event, ending up 5th in that race both times and therefore ending up 13th in the country. An incredible achievement by this group, and amazingly the seventh year in a row Bishop Road has been represented at this elite-level event. Huge congratulations to all.
