The first couple of weeks have flown by at Bishop Road as the children have settled into their new classes and back into the school routine.

Last week we had some insightful inset days which centred around some of the exciting projects which will be taking place this year. We had a visit from Professor Teresa Cremin who spoke to the teachers about non-fiction books and gave some great ideas about how to incorporate non-fiction into lessons.

This week the children have been doing a range of engaging activities across the school. Reception have been enjoying their time playing within the classroom and the Outdoor Learning area. Year 1 have been working on their topic work, learning about the British Isles. Year 2 have been shaking and moving as part of their music lessons. Year 3 have been finding exciting literature up in the library. Year 4 enjoyed their first PE lesson in the gym, learning new routines. Year 5 have been creating some incredible art pieces using different techniques of collage, paint and tracing paper to create a multi-layered display. Finally Year 6 have been creating their own WW1 propaganda posters. It’s safe to say that there has been a hum of activity across the whole school!
