What's in a primary school meal?

dinning hall tables

For one set price of £2.20 primary pupils receive a delicious meal that will provide them with plenty of energy and a healthy balance of carbohydrates, fruit and veg, protein etc. Menus work on a three week cycle

Meals must be ordered and paid for on a Monday with money in a sealed envelope with the child's name, class and a note of which day(s) lunch is required.   This envelope should be handed to the class teacher at morning registration.   It would be very much appreciated if dinner money could be paid for by cheque.  Monthly payment in advance can be made, but note that termly payments are no longer acceptable.   If payment in advance is not received, we regret we shall be unable to provide a meal for your child.   This last point is an important change as some of our flexibility has been lost in this regard.

CHILDREN WITH EITHER A FOOD ALLERGY OR RESTRICTED DIET
If your child has a food allergy or a restricted diet and you would like to see if it is possible for them to have a school meal , please fill in the Special Diet Referral form available in downloads and hand it in to the office

Packed Lunch

‘No Nuts Zone'

Due to the number of children that have nut allergies, we have a strict ‘NO NUTS' policy, both in meals provided by the school kitchen, as well as in packed lunches brought into school.

Snacks

Children are allowed to have a snack during morning break and it is highly recommended that a healthy option is provided, especially as we achieved the ‘Healthy Schools Award' in 2007. In fact in key stage 1 all children have a free fruit/veg snack provided each day this should encourage the children to try options for healthy eating they may not have experience of. The options range from apples to apricots, strawberries to sultanas, carrots to cucumbers.
